Summary

This chapter discussed some basic concepts of eComm. In order to do that it discussed commercial transaction components as: display, pricing, demand and payment.

It also explained the meaning of the expression "e" as it means combining both Information technology and Communication technology to perform tasks. Accordingly, eComm means doing commercial transactions by using Information technology and Communication technology.

Also this chapter discussed the birth of the eComm and how it was associated by the birth of computer networks that allowed doing data transfer for payment per character which was the first ever eComm business model.

It also presented the definitions of the Internet and explained its importance to eComm. Additionally, it discusses the concept of eShopping as a major part of eComm.

Finally, this chapter showed the basic differences between traditional commerce and eComm.
